COVID-19 latest information: Our hotel is currently closed

It is with much sadness that we write to let you know that we have closed our hotel. It's difficult, because we are usually here - whether you want to celebrate, or drown your sorrows - but this time we can't be. There will be no whisky and high jinks, no candlelit dinners, no Sunday lunches, and no Scottish breakfasts at The Kirkwall Hotel for a little while.

Please accept our deepest apologies for this. We are pleased to be able to play our part in preventing the spread of COVID-19, and look forward to re-opening.

What about my stay?

Our bedrooms are closed. The situation is changing daily, so we don't know how long we will be closed for. We are contacting guests with bookings in the next 4 weeks initially, and will reach out to all other guests once this is complete. If you have a booking, there are two ways we can help:

1. You can cancel your booking and we will issue a refund, if due. Please note that this may take a moment as our wonderful accounts team have unfortunately all been put into self-isolation. As soon as we get the team back up and running, we will work as hard as we can to make sure you receive your refund as soon as possible, please bear with us. If you booked via Booking.com, Expedia etc, you will need to cancel your reservation directly through your booking agent. If you booked on a special non-refundable rate, theses terms will still apply, but we would love to have you reschedule and visit us later in the year (see below).

2. You can reschedule your booking for any date through to 31st December 2020, just excluding 24th, 25th and 31st December. We understand that things are very unknown so you can reschedule again if you need to, and we will extend this period should the need arise. We completely understand that it may be tempting to cancel your booking, but your support means the absolute world to a small independent business like ours at a time like this. We want to welcome you to The Kirkwall Hotel. If you reschedule rather than cancel, we will find a way to make your stay extra special when the time comes!

If you would like to get in touch with us about your booking, please let us know whether you want to cancel, or are happy to reschedule. An email to enquiries@kirkwallhotel.com​ is the best way to do this. Please include your booking name, the dates you had booked, and how you would like to proceed. We will deal with your email as soon as we can, but please allow for a short delay while we work through requests. We do hope that we will get to welcome you.

What about my gift voucher?

If you have a valid gift voucher, we will extend it once we re-open, to ensure you do not lose out. Please get in touch when we re-open.

What about my event booking?

If you haven't heard from us already, please get in touch by emailing enquiries@kirkwallhotel.com​ we will help you reschedule, or talk about other options.

What next?

We don't know when we'll be able to open again, but when we do, you can be sure it will be in classic Kirkwall style.
